Girl’s and Guy’s Night

By Hailey Mesmer and Felix (Seeby) Jarvis-Earle

Throughout the semester, we had various girl’s and guy’s events.  These events give the students a chance to meet new people and make new friends.  A few of the girl’s events were Mass and brunch, and ice skating.  A few of the guy’s events were paintball and camping.

We started out the first Saturday in March with a girl’s night and a guy’s night.  The girls went ice skating at Cary Ice House, while the guy’s played a game of paintball.  The girls were able to unwind from a long week of classes by skating across the ice, while the guys were able to embrace their manly side as they ran through the woods playing a game of paintball.  As the girls skated across the ice, they laughed and bonded with each other.  All of the girls really enjoyed this event because they had they had the opportunity to build friendships with one and other and spend good quality time with a great group of girls.

The guys played paintball at Xtreme Kombat Battlepark in Raleigh, NC. This was the first time the guys played paintball together and memories were made and relationships built that day. The guys, for the majority of the day, were not separated into groups but rather the staff at Xtreme Kombat Battlepark had the CCM guys fight against everyone else at the park. Though many of the guys wanted to find an excuse to shoot paintballs at each other, they enjoyed the fact that the staff had the CCM guys play as a team which helped build up morale throughout the day, even if they were not the most prepared group at paintball. For many of them, this was not their first time playing paintball, but it was the first time the CCM guys all got together and played paintball all day. Hands down, they would go again. Just next time they should consider bringing their own supply of paintballs and instead of having to buy them at the field.

We finished out the semester with another girl’s event and guy’s event.  The girls all got together to celebrate the end of classes by going to Mass followed by brunch, while the guy’s went on a camping trip.  For the girl’s day, a group of CCM girls gathered together and went to 9am Mass at Sacred Heart Church.  Once Mass was finished, we prayed a rosary together outside of the Church then headed over to the Irregardless Cafe for brunch.  Junior Elizabeth Wooters attended this event, and shares a few thoughts of her experience.  “We forget how important it is to set aside time for and with our sisters in Christ.  This time consistently reminds us of the emotional and spiritual connections that are drawn from the feminine genius.”

On the Last Day of Class as much of the Wolfpack was celebrating with the band Walk the Moon on Stafford Commons, the guys went camping out in Wake Forest, NC. The guys from men’s group have considered planning a guy’s night camping for some while now, and the time finally came where the weather permitted for such a trip to happen. The guys built a camp, made food, played games, and even enjoyed the lake when they went camping for the weekend. Each guy brought something to help build the camp, and Junior Richard Pincus said that, “Josh Brown brought the Positivity,” Keegan Moloney can confirm. The weekend was enjoyable, and the guys look forward to doing more camping trips together in the future.

Our many girl’s and guy’s events throughout the semester allow students to spend good quality time with a great group of people who all share the same values and morals.  They allow CCM students to build lasting friendships with one another that will last a lifetime.
